Hola! Barcelona: Day 1
August 29, 20122012.08.01
Barcelona reminds me of a cleaner version of Paris - similar small streets and layout, old buildings, cafes. It also reminds me of Hong Kong - the look of the highways and the smell in some areas. There is lots to see, from Gaudi architecture to just strolling the streets/beaches, but the food is not my favorite.
Lunch @ QuQu Tapas were expensive and mediocre tasting. However, the waitress' padron peppers recommendation was quite unique - little salted green peppers. After lunch - shopping time - Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear, etc. Sadly, didn't buy anything but my sister picked up a few pieces for <10 euros each.
La Ramblas ~ tons of fresh fruit, fruit juice, candy, meat - the Spanish 街市.
The coconut and mango popsicle was so good!
1. Menu 2. Pre-made toasts on display. A variety of toppings: ham, shrimp, egg, etc. 3. Patatas Bravas - potatoes in creamy mayo-type sauce and slightly hot tomato/chili oil 4. Mussels and Fries - tastes like hickory sticks 5. Teriyaki Chicken 6. Cheese Croquettes |
Dinner @ TapaTapa. Again, expensive and mediocre. Potatoes are always a safe bet though.
Even McCafe has macarons |
Casa Mila ~ Gaudi
