Hola! Barcelona: Day 2

August 29, 2012

2012.08.02

After a quick and cheap breakfast at McDonalds (croissant + cappucino), we hopped on to the Hop On Hop Off bus to explore the city. The HOHO bus is a convenient way to get in all the sights of BCN.

Sagrada Familia - the unfinished church by Gaudi. Pictures don't do it justice! When I first saw it online, I thought it looked rather ugly, but in person it is much larger and grander. Each facade has a story behind it and the smooth beams and intricate architecture is really amazing. 大開眼界.

Jesus died at age 33 - the numbers in the grid add up to 33 in all directions.

Park Guell - view from the top
An large open space with seating area and mosaic detailing.

Lunch @ Pans, Camp Nou (FCB)
This is a chain restaurant, sort of like Spanish version of the sub. Crispy, hard baguette with Spanish ham inside for 5.5 euros, not bad.
Need to pay to see the actual football stadium, so we just walked around the FCB Nike store. Spanish people are really serious about football/soccer. Little kids, entire families wearing the team clothing!

Building near the Diagonal Mar shopping centre. This area is the commercial district, more modern.

The rings represent waves of the ocean.

Dinner @ La Poma Ham/Cheese croquettes/ slim Coke / decor / Carbonara (overcooked and tasteless) / inside of croquette - no matter what filling, it's mashed up, not stretchy cheese
