Winterlicious @ Chiado

February 01, 2015

Recommended by the owner of Ferreira in Montreal, we ventured out to Chiado to try some Portuguese seafood for Winterlicious lunch - $28. (They raised the prices this year!) The space is pretty nice; the main area more old world while the inside dining room more modern.

To start, I had the Salmon Tartar. Fresh salmon with finely chopped apples and avocado mousse - very delicate presentation but just thought it was a bit too sour.

The grilled squid was soft with a slight crunch, and light in flavor.

I didn't really like my Skate Fish. The texture is too rough for my liking and not a fan of the herbs. The lemon risotto was good though,  although no lemon taste.

I liked the Seabream much more. Texture smoother and similar to Chinese steamed fish.

Dessert was pretty standard but nice presentation.

All in all a good meal but the Portuguese dinner in MTL was bolder in flavor. The bread, appetizers and the white wine was the  best.
