Summerlicious @ Shibui Robata Bar

I visited Shibui for their $25 Summerlicious dinner. It's seems like a pretty good deal for four courses (2 apps, main protein + veg, dessert), but order a $10 drink or $20 sake pairing and it adds up!

Couldn't resist getting a drink. Ume Yuzu Mojito - very refreshing from the shiso leaf, love the yuzu flavor; alcohol wasn't strong!

To start I had the Crispy Rice with Salmon. The rice wasn't crispy.

Next came the Shibui Salmon Maki - average spicy salmon rolls, 8 pieces!! B had Pirikara Ebi Maki - crispy fried shrimp on top of the avocado roll. Didn't like this one; couldn't taste shrimp.

For main, I chose Black Cod in Miso Glaze with Asparagus.  Thick, soft and meaty with a sweet glaze. The sweet potato was good also. Pork belly was a bit dry for my taste.

Dessert - mango gelato was half melted! Very disappointed, and it didn't taste good. The Passionfruit Mousse was better, tasted like yogurt.

Ambiance: The restaurant is located in the lowest level of CopaCabana; a relatively casual lounge environment. It was too noisy and difficult for me to carry a conversation so I didn't really like it.

Service: Our server was new so she didn't know about the sake pairing. Apparently none of the staff know, and said they all go well with everything - then what's the point of a pairing?  The food came pretty quickly but I felt rushed at the end with the melted dessert and bill.

Verdict: Cocktail & Black Cod was the best of the night. Food was average but nothing memorable.
